Eatery + Shelter
International Architecture Studio | Third Year
The Eatery + Shelter is an architectural landmark designed to create both public spaces and a retreat for the homeless population in Copenhagen, Denmark. The structure is shaped to minimize obstruction of foot traffic, symbolizing the divide between the general public and the homeless. Circulation paths to rooftop terraces and sightlines between buildings encourage physical and visual connections, fostering unity between these once-separated groups. By elevating this sense of community to the summit of the structure, the design aims to challenge the stigma surrounding the homeless population and promote positive social interaction.
